Awake, My Soul! - (SSAA Choir)

Program Notes:

         This piece uses text from psalm 57 which is a psalm that starts out very repentant, with the text “Have mercy on me”. This piece starts in E minor which encapsulates that repentant nature. As the psalm moves on, it has the text “awake, my soul!” This text for me represents a turning point. Moving from a point of repentance to a place of worship and glorification. Soon after that the piece transitions to D Major, as the text moves to a more joyful theme.
